News and Announcements

OIAM will be April 30

It is that time of year again and the OIAM teams are looking for more volunteers. There are two new teams: Beaumont led by Jeff O’Donnell and Power Show, headed up by Michael Edwards. The children will have their own team for OIAM. While childcare will be provided for the littlest ones, we have opportunities for children ages 3 through 12 to be actively engaged as the hands and feet of Christ in our community.

The Children’s Teams are: Kids on Mission (ages 5 and older): Preschool Power (ages 3 and 4): Nursery (ages 0 to 2).

Returning Teams will be Home Repairs, Lawn Care, Wood Chopping, Essene Home, Amelia Nursing Home and the Providing Lunch team. If you have not already signed up to join this exciting ministry, do it today by filling out a yellow form which can be found in the sanctuary or church office, or contact Ashely Osborne or Diana Schmitz in the church office. Any questions please call Ashley Osborne at 804-467-3625 or email at aosborne@hanger.com

New Member's Class

A new member's class will be held on Sundays, May 8 and 15 at 9:45 in the conference room. This will be led by the pastor. If you have recently joined May Memorial Church or are thinking about joining you are invited to come and learn more about what it means to be a member of our church. If you are a long-time member and would like a "refresher" of the important parts of church membership you are also invited to attend.

New Bible Study

This Wednesday we will begin a two week study on the importance of civility in our lives as American citizens and as Christians. Civility has long been a virtue of Christianity and even in our American culture. More recently it seems that our society and many public voices have suffered a lack of it. During our study we will think about our discussions, especially between people who disagree, in light of Christian virtues.
