May Memorial Baptist Church

We are a wonderful church family that provides opportunities for people of all ages to nurture their faith and pursue their faith story.

Having heard God’s call in Jesus Christ, the members of May Memorial are people who allow their ordinary lives to be used in extraordinary way by God who continues to offer new life and good news to our broken world.

The church family of May Memorial has set goals in accomplishing God’s mission in the world. First, we seek to reach a world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

This good news is the gospel that can offer hope to the hopeless and transform us into a new people who live lives of meaning and purpose. As pastor of May Memorial, I warmly invite you to get to know the Church Family at May Memorial.

You will find that May Memorial family is made up of people who are committed to following Jesus Christ and making a difference in our Powhatan community and in the world.

and have not taken the step to officially join the church family.

We would love to welcome you during worship on May 21st.

A Baptism Service will be planned for that day so if you have not received Christian Baptism we will receive you by baptism that day.

May Memorial Spring Book Club

May 21

This Spring we will be reading Rachel Held Evans' Searching for Sunday.  This is a compelling story of the author's birth and childhood in the church, her leaving the church as a young adult, and her return to her faith in a new and different way.  The group will meet in early May, and we will meet at the home of Jeff O'Donnell.

On Thursday Night, May 25, our normal mid-week meal will be a cookout and game night.

We hope everyone will join us! Bring a friend or two! Look for a sign up in Sunday's bulletin or next week's newsletter. This will be the final mid-week meal until the fall. Proceeds from this meal will go to Backpacks of Love.

God has called You
How will You Serve Him?

This Year God Has Called Me To... How has God called you to serve?

May Memorial Baptist Church is making a shift from committees to teams.  This shift will enable us to better be a family of doers who are working to accomplish God's mission for our church, our community, and our world.

As we move closer to the 2017-2018 church year, have you considered what you will DO to serve God at May Memorial Baptist Church?

Worship Team...

Stewardship Team...

Do you see a job that catches your eye or speaks to your heart?  Something that you are passionate about?  Something you sense God is calling you to do?  If so, share this with Michael.

Is there something that God has called you to do that is not on this list?  Something that has been missed?  If so, share this with Michael.

When you volunteer it is for one year of service.  You are not volunteering to lead a team or to serve on a committee.  You are doing what God has called you to do to be a part of His mission for our church.

More information and explanations will be coming soon.

VBS Workers Needed!

VBS is July 17-21

Please contact the church office if you can help!

Thank you.

Sunday School News

After losing two faithful teachers in our Sunday School, the Esther Class and Men's Bible Class are left without a teacher.  For this reason these two classes are inviting all their members to join together as one class.  If you have been a part of either of these classes, you are invited to join together in the Esther class room this Sunday, May 14th, and hear one our new church members, Bob Kruschwitz, bring us the lesson.  As he begins teaching the class you will have an opportunity on the 14th for input on literature, topics, etc. as well as getting to know Bob. Come and give him your support.
