May Memorial Baptist Church

We are a wonderful church family that provides opportunities for people of all ages to nurture their faith and pursue their faith story.

Having heard God’s call in Jesus Christ, the members of May Memorial are people who allow their ordinary lives to be used in extraordinary way by God who continues to offer new life and good news to our broken world.

The church family of May Memorial has set goals in accomplishing God’s mission in the world. First, we seek to reach a world with the good news of Jesus Christ.

This good news is the gospel that can offer hope to the hopeless and transform us into a new people who live lives of meaning and purpose. As pastor of May Memorial, I warmly invite you to get to know the Church Family at May Memorial.

You will find that May Memorial family is made up of people who are committed to following Jesus Christ and making a difference in our Powhatan community and in the world.

Anna Circle - Announcement and Special Meeting

A big thank you to the ladies of the Anna Circle! This year they have helped Christmas mother, Coalition of Churches, sent 2 trunks of things to the homeless vets, dinner for the youth, cookies for the choir and staff, and so much more.

We want to be God’s hands reaching out here at May Memorial. For Tuesday April 11 at 11 am. there will be a brunch at Gladys Rabon’s - 2104 Bienvenue place (55 plus Scottsville community).

We have a very special and dear lady in our church who we are having a welcome home house warming party for. She has 5 children so anything is good. Toilet paper, towels, cleaning supplies, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruits etc. We want her to know she is loved and we are thankful for what she has brought to us.

All ladies are welcome!

During the Season of Lent...

there will be a centering prayer group that will meet each Sunday at 5:00 in the church sanctuary.  This will begin on Sunday, March 5.  This is a time of silent prayer, and we will read together the devotional classic Life of the Beloved by Henri Nouwen.  Books will be provided. There is no outside preparation, we will read the book together in our time together.  The prayer meeting will last only 30 minutes each week.

Operation Inasmuch - Save the Date

OIAM will be on April 22.

May Memorial Spring Book Club

This Spring we will be reading Rachel Held Evans' Searching for Sunday.  This is a compelling story of the author's birth and childhood in the church, her leaving the church as a young adult, and her return to her faith in a new and different way.  The group will meet in early May, and we will meet at the home of Jeff O'Donnell.
