Bulletin

Bulletin May 19, 2013 (143KB)
Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Special Announcements

Operation InAsMuch IS JUNE 15
We are excited about Operation In As Much and wanted to share with you a few details on each project. We understand that some of our church family may not have heard about OIAM and some who participated last year may want to try out a different project, so following is a brief description:
Home Repairs: Team determines local families in need of minor home repairs that may not otherwise be able to afford it.
Landscaping & Gardening: Team determines local families in need of yard work, grass cutting, gardening, etc. This could be an elderly person or persons that may not be able to have the work done themselves.
Firewood: Team locates wood available to be cut and then distributes to families in need of firewood for the winter who may not be able to take care of cutting or buying it for themselves.
Kids Carnival: Team creates and manages a carnival like theme on the playground at church for children to come, play and see how MMBC is reaching out to our community.
Home Cooked Meals: Team organizes making and delivering meals to shut-ins in our area. The volunteers who deliver the meals also visit with the shut-ins.
Clothes Closet: Team coordinates with current Clothes Closet volunteers to collect items needed, as well as, going to the Clothes Closet on the day of OIAM and volunteering to help organize their facility.
Animal Shelter: Team coordinates with the Animal Shelter to collect items needed for the animals, as well as, going to the Shelter to help maintain the grounds and facility.
Food Pantry: Team coordinates with both local Food Lion’s, Powhatan Pharmacy and Plaza Pharmacy to set up tables with brochures asking shoppers if they would be willing to buy an item or two off the list for the local Food Pantry. They also coordinate with the Food Pantry to find out what they need most and collect prior to OIAM.
Nursing Home Visit: Team in the past has coordinated with the Amelia Nursing Home to take a group of children from MMBC to sing, visit and play games with the residents. These children were able to come back to MMBC after the visit and participate in the Kids Carnival.
Lunches for Volunteers: Team coordinates with each project leader to determine how many volunteers and children of volunteers need lunch on the day of OIAM. They pack lunches and deliver to the volunteers at the different project sites on the day of OIAM.
As we experienced last year there are opportunities for multiple teams to ask for donations prior to OIAM, for example, trees to be cut for firewood, gently used items to be donated to the Clothes Closet, dog food and toys for the Animal Shelter, food for the Food Pantry, and items the residents at the Nursing Home can use, like tissues and hard candy.
There are many opportunities for our church family to honor one of our missions of Reaching, Teaching, Touching in the heart of Powhatan County and the OIAM mission of “In as much as you did it for the least of these, you did it for me” Matthew 25:40 Please take the time to be a part of this wonderful mission and we know what you receive from this experience will last in your heart for an eternity.

We are Proud to Announce:
The electronic age has arrived at May Memorial Baptist Church
CHECK OUT E-GIVING, May Memorial’s new electronic funds transfer service. We have partnered with LifeWay Envelope Service to offer you this option for your weekly/monthly/special contributions. This is a secure site, easy to use, and your contributions will still be posted to your personal account by our Finance Secretary.
The easiest way to access E-Giving is at E-Giving. This will take you to the instructions for using and give you the connection link to E-Giving. It is user friendly and you have the option of using four major credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) or doing your contribution by bank draft. Plus you have the ability to schedule your contributions according to your personal giving preference.
You can also access E-Giving at http://envelopes.lifewaystores.com/item.asp?item=52
This takes you to an opening page where you enter the Powhatan Zip Code (23139) mid-page on the left. That will then take you to the same place as our website link.
After you have authorized the transaction you will be given a receipt showing your envelope number (if you entered it during your setup) and the date of your contribution. In order for your contribution to be counted in Sunday’s total giving, you will need to do this before 9:00 a.m. on Monday. All notifications received after that will be posted to the following Sunday’s giving record. Also note that bank drafts will take a little longer to clear your account.
Linda Pulliam in the Finance Office will be happy to answer your questions or assist you if you are encountering any problems. If she is not in the office, please leave a message on her voice mail and she will get back to you as soon as possible. |
