Missions Ministry

Back to All Ministries

Adults

  • Baptist Men – This group of men meets one Saturday each quarter for fellowship over breakfast. Often times there is a speaker or presentation. The men take on projects that benefit church members or a need in the community. They also support the Royal Ambassadors. The president is Jim Cox. Please contact him for more information via email: coxmitchell35@verizon.net
  • WMU – The Woman’s Missionary Union is for every lady (young and older) in the church. It is an umbrella for the lady’s circles, Girls In Action and Mission Friends. Many mission projects are accomplished on the local, state and national levels.

To really get involved, there are two WMU Circles for you to choose from:

(1) The Anna Circle meets the second Tuesday of each month around 11:00 am. Rebecca Cox facilitates this group of ladies. Please contact her for more information via email: rbcox3@verizon.net.

(2) The Rachael Circle also meets the second Tuesday in the evening in the homes of members or at a local restaurant. Their facilitator is Vi Lamb. Dianna Brown is the Leader. Both groups have individual mission projects they oversee throughout the year. There is something for everyone to be involved in.

The WMU recently combined sewing and fellowship to make jumpers and dolls for children on the Indian reservations in North and South Dakota.

Children

Royal Ambassadors – for boys 1st through 6th grade. They meet on Wednesday evenings during the school year at 6:30 pm on the 3rd floor of the church in the RA Room. They hear mission stories, build bird houses, compete in racing with cars they have built, and learn leadership skills through their RA pledge and leading in prayer. Contact Irvin Williams: tootscwm@verizon.net for more information. He is assisted by Rev. Rudy Potter.

Girls in Action – for girls 1st through 6th grade. These girls are busy missionaries in our community. They meet on the first Monday of the month at the church after school. The girls plan mission projects throughout the year and host many wonderful occasions. Contact Nancy Gillespie: Ngillespie4030@comcast.net for more information on this group of girls.

Mission Friends – for boys and girls ages 4 & 5. They provide wonderful stories, activities, and usually have something for the children to make to take home. They meet on Wednesdays during the school year from 6:30 – 7:30.

Breaking News

May Memorial Baptist Church will once again be sponsoring an Acteens program!  The theme this year is G3: The Power of a Girl to Change the World.  It encourages the girls to first take a look at themselves, then the girl next door and then the girl around the world.

All girls in grades 7 - 12 are invited to join us as we seek to be the hands and heart of Christ in our school, in our community and around the world!   Acteens is a mission organization that is a part of the WMU.  Although it is designed to be "girls only", the Acteens program at May Memorial will work cooperatively with our Youth Minister to provide mission opportunities for males and females in junior high and high school.  We will meet (most likely) twice a month from October through March with a closing event in April.  More specific information will be posted after dates are finalized.  (We will plan our calendar based on the schedule of our participants.)

Attention Acteens
January 20: Friday Fun at the Crump’s 6:00-9:30 p.m.
Put this date on your calendar now!! Although the tradition for a January mission project has been hosting a Soup Luncheon, this year, as Acteens, we will be preparing and serving an array of desserts for the teachers and staff of PJHS and, hopefully, PHS. Once I have an RSVP from you, I will send out specific requests for ingredients to be donated so please do not delay. Dinner for Friday Fun on the 20th will be provided. Items for the agenda: February and March activities, March Mission Madness with Youth, Summer Camp
