Kenny grew up in Chesterfield and began studying piano at a young age before beginning to play the organ for his church in high school. He studied organ and church music at Eastern Mennonite University and graduated from VCU with a B.A. in music and religious studies. He worked full time as the music director and organist for Main Street United Methodist Church in Bedford, Virginia for 8 years before returning to the Richmond area, where he served 2 churches while working as a firefighter/paramedic. In addition to working at May Memorial, Kenny continues to work in the healthcare field. In his down time, he enjoys woodworking, going to the Y, watching his daughter play soccer, and gardening in the summer . Kenny and his wife Macie live in Powhatan with their daughter Cassie.
